The Gamelatron marries Balinese sonic and ritual tradition with modern robotics. We source traditional bronze instruments used for ceremonies and celebrations from Indonesia, and retrofit them with hand-made mechanical mallets on sculptural mounts, creating kinetic sculptures used in site-specific immersive sound installations. The installations are peaceful places designed to foster happiness, awaken the senses and open the heart.

The Gamelatron is partnering with Ramblewood to build a gazebo that can house a custom-made Gamelatron from May to October, so that all the diverse communities that Ramblewood embraces can benefit from the beauty and transformative power of the project.

As you can imagine there are many expenses in building both the housing and a gamelatron as well as maintaining it: from importing the gongs, to all the raw materials, actuators and proprietary hardware - every part of this project is made with diligence and love.

We are humbling asking for your support. We estimate that we need at least $36,000 to realize the project for 2013, 14 and 15.

If everyone that comes to Ramblewood each year pitch in even a nominal amount scaled to their personal budgets, we can easily reach that goal, and in return the gamelatron can serve all of us at Ramblewood for years to come.
